Yes, 8 or sometimes a 7 (lower number is a hotter plug, slightly).
I strongly think that a different fly wheel may be slightly different in so far as magnet placement but IMO just so ever slightly which will certanly change things up to a degree or two.
I can guarantee after I get done doing my work I do to stock fly wheels they are different, close but basically a different fly wheel all together.
Play with that timing, advancing, retarding and see what works best as far as dialing it in.
If it was running okay before fly wheel took a dump, and now fouling plugs and basically being a pain the butt, good chance timing is culprit IMO.
Gonna PM you about your old fly wheel, I am always on the look out for a magnet or two.
I got called back to work shortly after getting home so if there is something you need me to take pictures of or what ever, please let me know.

Okay so today after a new plug it still wouldn't fire. But I did something different and took the ignition coil off the frame, letting it just dangle and I'm getting spark????. The spark is still weak and doesn't show but the test light is lighting up. ????????????????????????????? Do you guys put rubber bushings or something like that under it to keep it off from getting grounded out???? Ideas please...

It needs to be grounded. a test light will do you absolutly no good trouble shooting the ignition

well Ive been using the Ohm meter initially to test the stator and ignition coil for resistance. Ive been told the CDI is untestable. I'm still learning about some of it. What Am I suppose to use then other than the test light? I mean there's only two wires the green &white from the CDI and the black from the CDI? The Ignition coil is mounted to the frame. I can't begin to express my frustration with this. I probably sound like I don't know what I'm doing, maybe I don't, but I had this thing running doing wheelies 2 weeks ago.

A multi meter will help alot more than a test light. I assume you have the manuel since were trying to ohm test the stator. flip the page for the cdi tests. To go back to what I said before make sure your engine cases have a good ground!!

Lol welp, a guy from work told me to run a wire from the coil to the ground and just now I ran one from the ignition coil wrap it up with copper wire then tied it to the footrest and presto I have spark.

read back a bit... I already told you how to make sure the engine is grounded. The stator plate needs a good ground to the engine case. the engine need s a good ground to the frame which grounds the coil. if you are running a ground wire fom the coil, run it to the engine to troubleshoot .

I found some one else who fixes dirt bikes and motorcycles for a living and he is also telling me the cdi is bad. We grounded everything to the engine and still nothing, hes saying there's not enough juice coming out the cdi to make the coil collapse. I think he's right because we tested to the manual and it wasn't reading right. So I guess I'll buy another one. Will any kx 250 2 stroke cdi due?http://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-1984-KA...7c3aef&vxp=mtr like this
