I use mineral spirits, brake cleaner, and gas drained from peoples machines who let them sit too long. I also wear a good set of solvent proof gloves when washing most parts.

If I have major clean up to do that can get wet I use Castrol Super Clean and a pressure washer.

All other parts I have washed in gas for over 20 yrs. Gas suks at 4$ a gallon but whats cheaper and petroleum based??

Other parts need electrical contact or carb cleaner.
