    ATC 110 horsepower update

I have an 83' ATC 110. It was really slow when it was bone stock. I looked up stock HP ratings and found 110's come with anywhere from 8-12 horses. I threw my 100% bone stock 110 up on the dyno and ran it. The results were 3.7 horsepower and 3.7 lb-ft of torque. I was pretty disappointed considering what people say they were supposed to have.

Anyway, I ported the head out and made another run and it was 3.8 hp and 3.9 lb-ft torque. I rejetted it and the power/torque was the same. I jetted it up untill it was blubbering rich. But the thing that woke it up was removing the airbox lid, what a difference!!(it no longer ran blubbering rich with the lid off; it ran crisp and clean)

But I didnt stop there, I put a K&N filter on it, Lightened the flywheel, Lightened the clutch assembly, and ground out the timing advance to change the timing curve to increase the topend power while retaining its low end power and built a 1" exhaust. Put it back on the dyno and ran it, The power was 4.7 and the torque was 9.7 lb-ft. Huge inprovement on torque and the seat-of-the-pants test reflected it! The best part is that all the power was made with stock parts so it's a sleeper! The throttle response was greatly imporoved as well.

My brother has a 79 110 with a big bore 123cc high comp. piston and mine walks all over his.

Just wanted to enlighten you guys on the possible power/torque improvements with the 110.
