    finally opened it up

    so i finally opened up my 300R head and this is what i found Click image for larger version.

    Time for a top end.. That head needs smoothed out or rechambered too.. See all the pieces missing from the edge of the piston? Those flying around dinged up the combustion chamber of the cylinder head.

    looks like ya had some detonation going on in there for sure!! atleast the piston didnt melt, so your lower should be fine. what octane fuel do you run?

    I'm guessing a little detonation was taking place in there to have started the deterioration. What kind of fuel are you using?

    i actually have never used this i bought it from a guy for 100$ with another engine and a bunch of other random parts a little wile ago and want to rebuild it and put on my 81R i have been reading about it and was thinking that the deck mod would be the be easiest way to go i think the sleeve actually looks good just some small scratches and nothing that catches my nail

    Also, I have seen where a failing lower rod bearing does this kind of damage. Check your crank and lower rod bearing thoroughly before running that new topend!
