This is my first 3 wheeler, It came in a deal when I bought my Chevy for 500 bucks. I just got it running today after it was sitting for 15 years ad it started first kick. Just a couple of questions, How does reverse work? Cant seem to find it.
Does this not use a clutch? Thats what I was guessing.
Also do these use carrier bearings? The axles seem to move around a slight bit.

there is a button on your rear brake lever on the bars by the parking brake. push it down and pull in the lever , now down shift ,your reverse light should come on and your in reverse. as far as a clutch these are semi auto with a centrifugal clutch, to shift just let of the gas and shift like any other bike. the gears are one down (reverse) and 5 up. sl,1,2,3,4. Check your rear diff fluid as the 85 rear ends let in water a lot the time if milky change. I change mine all the time.If. you have play in the front wheel you probably need bearings.Their cheap just be careful taking out the axle, mine was seized and ended up breaking it. That said enjoy your machine I love mine
