Tulsa Mike - it might be easier to fix the spark problem now and eliminate it so you're not chasing ghosts when you put it back together.

Mike,,def get it running perfect ,,BEFORE you tear it down!! Weak spark will most likely be rust/stator related. Get it perfect mechanically before you strip it! All the rest of good advice here should march you right thru!

Well BIG change of plans lol some asshat welded the hubs onto the axle! so I think I found my starting point lolol Luckily I have 4 or 5 axles!

So the question is now should I torch them off or use a cutting wheel with my air angle grinder?

The axle really is a minor problem, a pain in the butt, yet still a minor problem. The cutting wheel would be the best since after using the torch, you would have to grind it smooth to get it through the bearings. Get yourself a nos wiring harness, more than likely, problem solved. If you have other trikes, take a used harness off of one and plug everything into this and see if that solves the problem. Don't make yourself any more work than you have to.

Just so you know both the wheel hubs are supposed to be the same, with 3 or 4 bolts on each side. Also, are you planning on saving the axle by cutting the hubs in on each side,,, like > X < , the X being the hub with 4 bolts, or are you just going to cut the axle, these axles aren't that expensive, I'm just wondering all that you're planning on doing with this. There is a lot more work involved with trying to save this axle, but if it was a rare aftermarket axle or an axle off a Tiger or other rare 3 wheeler, then it would be worth trying to save.

No I have at least 5 83 axle with hubs

People have to weld them on because they cant be bothered to make sure the nut is tight and cotter pinned in place.
