Atc 70 Clear Cylinder Head Cover! (Lotsa pics! And a vid :])

Used a old piece of boat windshield.
    Heres how it turned out.

Held up for a little while, then melted and the seal broke. Need some sort of stronger plastic and maybe some bushings for the nuts to tighten down on. R&D man.

    Here's your video guys!

Ive seen a lot of see through things, but never an engine. Just an idea, but I know a lot of phones and tablets have Gorilla Glass screens. I know unless u were to take the tip of a knife and grind it you cant scratch it. Maybe its as heat resistant as it is scratch resistant. The area dosnt look too big, If you got a few bucks you might wanna try ordering replacement glass for a kindle fire and putting it on there. Also is that a see through pullstart? If your going for that theme a plexi glass carb would look cool, maybe the top of the throttle lever box, chain cover.

There are clear clutch covers available for some dirtbikes, street bikes, etc, so this is possible.

screens for phones or tablets are not going to be heat resistant at all...that would be like trying to cook food with your cellphone. not gonna happen... so why would a phone manufacturer make their phones heat resistant?

You also can't cut or drill a screen. Tempered glass is my guess as to what would possibly work.

I cracked the flywheel cover, need some stronger plastic. hmm I could pop a couple of these out if someone wanted one, the hours of labor would determine price though.
Gonna try some different plastics if i get the chance, but they work awesome for a sand cruiser not so much on trails.
As for the rocker cover I need something very heat resistant.
However, both covers were just spur of the moment things and were from scrap materials.

I do like your idea but agree with the guys on a tempered glass from a junk wood burner or something along those lines. Good luck and keep us posted.
    Just sit back and chillaxx

You don't want an acrylic material (i.e. Plexiglass) you want a polycarbonate (i.e. lexan is the trademark name for clear polycarbonate sheet). Look for a piece of Lexan, and I'll bet it will hold up.

Go to the local hockey rink and steal a sheet of the glass from there, guaranteed that would hold up!!

If I thought through half of what I do, Id have more money, and a lot less injuries. Suggestions I make are similar. But yeah, tempered glass from a woodstove door could be one thing to look into.
