What would be the best way to patch this up?

I have a welder but it's to thin even turned all the way down i still blow through any ideas?



P.S. i tried in in an old one first...

Whenever I weld thin material. I put a thick piece of Aluminum behind it. The weld doesn't stick to the aluminum. And absorbs the heat to prevent burn through.

You can weld that no problem. You have to be very carefully though to not put alot of heat into it, the way I would do it is to just start with little tack welds around the opening and then very carefully start to fill it in with little tack welds. It would help you alot if you could get a plate be hind it to help with the heat like trikeman78 said. What kinda of welder are you going to be useing MIG , TIG,or SMAW

Cut the thin area back till you hit thicker metal, then patch...

I just cut the area out, cut a piece of metal to fit, and welded it in. Must easier.
