    Question Tire question.

I've got 2 KLT 110s and a 185. I need to replace all of the rear ties and front tires. The rears on them now are 22x11-8s, has anyone ran 21x9-8s on the rear? Thats what I have on the front and I can get them about $40 cheaper per tire. Thanks! Bryan

they are not as tall and not as wide. 21 across,9 up from rim,and 8 rim size. you'll get more torque, but you might flip over the trike easier lol

?????? not quite,21 is the height 9 is the width and 8 is the wheel diameter. the problem besides the tires wont be as tall when mounted is the width of the tire to the wheel. The tire should be atleast 1" wider than the wheel. I have put tires on that were the same width as the wheel but it's not easy to get it on.

not that i want to beat this up 'just ben', but the first number is always the width, the next is the aspect ratio, and then rim size. this is true for most motorcycles and vehicle tires.

While that is true for metric tire sizes ie. 235/75/16, it is not true in american sizes ie. 21x9x8.

In metric sizes it is 235 mm across the tread width, 75% of the width is sidewall height (75% of 235mm = 176.25 mm) and the rim size is 16

American is Diameter x Width x Rim Size so 21" in diameter, 9 inches in width, and an 8 inch rim size.

Like Ben said, if your tire is close to or the same width as your wheel, they suck to mount and get seated, thats why you should try to be at minimum 1" wider than your wheel width on your tire, and if you are too wide you run the risk of popping beads constantly too.
