My buddy's selling his 200x so i'm buying his full dg pipe, came off fine same with mine went to tighten down the bolt's on the head and i snapped the top 1 off, dumb me i always forget to snug and not over tighten and now it leaks a bit, how can i get the broken piece out? i'll run down to the barn and grab some pics and post them in a few.

    EDIT, Pics added, Vid soon

Don't mind the dirtiness we just got done riding 65 miles of sand trail's yesterday it needs a bath and to be re greased

Also wondering if its going to melt this? his trike had no air box and a k&n filter

Drill it and use a bolt extrator or if there is still some of the bolt sticking out you could try grabing it with some vicegrips. I have that same dg pipe and it did melt it. After you fix the bolt put the exhaust back on lose. You have the head pipe just a lil to high, if you spin it down just a bit it will move it enough that it wont melt.

Any amount of bolt still sticking out? Find someone who can weld decent, weld a nut to remaining piece, apply heat, remove with ratchet.

And if you don't have a friend or can do it yourself, a good muffler shop will be well versed at getting broken bolts out like that. Watched the guy in town here weld on a nut and spin bolts like there greased with hot KY jelly........

All I'm going to say is THINK before you act. There are a dozen ways to do this and 100 ways for it to go bad and mess your head up, or burn up your trike. You may want to read all the other posts on here regarding this topic before you proceed. It'll be time well spent.

No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

i don't think there's any bolt sticking out maybe i'll try the muffler shop, as for moving the pipe down if i do then my clutch wont move as it is now it rub's a bit, i was thinking maybe using some muffler tape and wrapping it around the pipe by the air box

Had that happen on the headers to my truck. If you happen to have left handed drill bit (not a joke, they do exist) the use a bolt extractor. If you get lucky, the drill may spin it out. If not, at least it won't work it in any tighter.

Be careful not the snap the bit or extractor. Don't drill through the bolt and into the motor. I have made both those mistakes, and they both suck.

They just get old and corroded. The BEST way to repair is to take the head off and let a professional fix it on a mill with indicators. I won't call myself a professional but I can't take on any side work at this point anyhow....

I'll warn you now, if you break a drill or tap in there, this situation will be far much worse.....

    ^^^^Thanks for the props Thorpe!

i just went to a muffler shop around here and let them deal with it, they tack welded a nut on the end and let it cool spun it right off. then i went to the hard ware store and picked up a bolt that was close to the same and screwed it down a bit then used the nut to tighten it down now i have a bolt sticking out but no exhaust leaks, think i'll get a shorter bolt later on

thanks for the idea's but i figured the muffler shop was a better bet as i didn't want to mess nothing up already had to put bearing in the rear axle, that wasn't fun.

You might consiter a proper stud before that bolt gets too acustomed to being in there.
