Any tricks to proper sticker/decal placement?

Got my '85 200X resto project fired for the first time last night (hallelujah!) and am starting to troubleshoot the minor things. With that, I want to finish it with the repro decals that it originally came with. Outside of putting it next to another 200X with original decals, are there any "tricks" that anyone uses to get these placed correctly?

You can mix a couple drops of Dawn dish washer detergent in a squirt bottle of water (like the size if a Windex bottle). Clean where the sticker goes, really well. Spray down the area with the soapy water, pull the backing from the sticker, spray it with soapy water and then place the sticker. The soapy gives you the ability to move the sticker around some. When you have the sticker where you want just squeegee the soapy water and any air bubbles from under the sticker and let it sit for awhile. You can also use a heat gun it help the stickers bend on curved surfaces, just heat and work it with a squeegee. A bondo paddle works well too.

I like the TLAR method for stickers - That Looks About Right ...

I have seen a professional decal guy (he has his own buisness, and makes and sells decals) use windex. He sprays tank with a light mist, then the decal. He slides it to the correct positing, and uses a squeegee, then lets it sit for a while. Might be worth a try.

Are you sure it's Windex in the bottle? Windex has ammonia in it and ammonia degrades the adhesives most commonly used in this type of application. If you're going to use anything like window cleaner for something like this, at least use GlassPlus, it's ammonia free.

Im sure I seen him use windex. At least, it was in a windex bottle, and it was a blue liquid.

It's the placement I need help with. I don't want the tank decals, for example, to be rotated or too low...etc.

I'm NOT good at TLAR!
