I have owned a few 250R's before but never had an opportunity to ride a 350x.... just curious how they compare? (suspension/ power etc)

350x has good low end grunt , suspension isnt as good as a 250r (85-86 250r). 350 is slower on top end. If I had to choose between them , Id keep the R and burn the 350x. Have owned and rode several examples of both. I get 350x's fix them ride it a couple times then send it down the rode lol.

The 250r is a little hell cat..bent on speed. Definitely for those with adreneline fix issues. Not that suited for trail cruising though, kinda difficult to tame down for those tight turns or bumpy challenging sections. More meant for the track!! I kept mine just a couple months because it wasn't my riding style.
The 350x has a nice low end power range so you can ride along with your kids or buddy's on their 110s, but then hit the throttle and blast off in a cloud of dust. You get the feeling more that you are riding the machine instead of the machine taking you along for the ride like the 250r.
My choice would be the 350x

i hear the X's were always more reliable. i love 4strokes anyway, so i'd go with the X. but the R is definately what you should shoot for when ridin for speed, in the dunes, racin, etc. i guess the 350x is more trail-worthy than race-worthy

I have a good amount of seat time with 350x's. and I have owned 2 250r's as well and spent a comparable amount of time on them too. They are both different riding styles honestly, hard to really say one is better than the other since they are apples to oranges. I love them both if that helps![]()
i ride my 250r on trails all the time. Only when the trail is *really tight* and exposed, slow do I feel the R is at a disadvantage. Thats maybe 5% of my riding. So if you ride trails, the R is still a good choice IMHO.
Well I can tell one thing when your removing an engine from a 350x those dam things are heeeaavy compared to a 250r if you wont speed get the 250r if you wont just to cruise at steady pace and go trail riding then its the 350x. But in my case I use my 250r for everything lol I take it mud bogging,I drive in the rain, through the desert, washes and I even sometimes go on streets I perfer the need for speed

They are equally great, but the suspension of the R gears it more towards racing.
As far as trail riding, I have determined both to be adequately worthy. I've watched Brrcuda, Jeff and Ryan as well as DEEPA cruise at slow speeds with technical trails. They same to have no issues fouling plugs or stalling. This is opposite of what I would have said a couple years ago. But now that I've seen it, I believe they are both great machines on any terrain...
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
Well dialed in jetting is key..
One thing the R doesn't do so well at is prolonged slow speeds. Being liquid cooled and having no electric cooling fan like the modern water-pumpers do, they are prone to getting a little on the hot side if you are doing alot of low speed riding on a warm day. They like a little wind through the rads to stay happy...

lets see if I can explain this in a simple way.
a 250r is a lot like a hot sexy model chick that is high maintenance, cranky and whiney and complains when it doesn;t get it's way. but it is sexy and very fun to ride!it's very fast when riding and wants to tear your
off.
the 350x is more like the girl next door. dependable, decent to look at, smoother ride (because it's more for trails not racing) and can rock your world just as hard in bed, but knows how to clean up after a mess.
had them both, i perfer the X, hell i married an X.(girl wise)

Been searching CL everyday and found nothing decent, C'mon guys help me out! ha ha....... my 88 TRX250R just doesn't give me the same buzz
I agree the 250r is decent for ripping the woods/trails up!! Never owned an X tho.
