    250r street legal?

How can you make an 86 250r street legal in the state of az? its legal to drive 3 wheeled atvs on highways and public streets as long as you have the following 1. Turn signals 2 mirros and 3 a horn and you must take a mortocycle class (figures right) but quads don't anyways question is Would the stator be able to handle it the horn and turn signal?. Is there a kit? Or i 'em suppose to make it peace by peace Any help would be appreciated

I suppose the stator could handle the extra load of turn signals and horn as long as you use LED directionals. Maybe you could make something like this work on the 250R http://www.ebay.com/itm/Baja-Designs...item4164a64f68 Just change the bulbs out to LEDs.

I've seen that kit on rockymountainatvmc.com for about 200 bucks less but would it be better just to replace all bulbs instead on the hole front light assembly?

You're probably going to end up having to install a battery. At that point it won't really matter if you use LED's or not I'm guessing.

If you are gonna put that much load on your electrical you really should install a battery/voltage regulator...

Feel free to read this PDF file at your leisure.

    http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/outdoor_re...v_brochure.pdf

Couple quick notes from the PDF file.

    Equipment you need to
    operate your OHV in Arizona:

◆◆ Helmet that is properly fitted, fastened and has
a USDOT safety rating for those under 18 who
ride on an OHV. Riders in an OHV such as an
ROV do not need helmets; however, it is recommended
that all OHV users wear a helmet.
    (ARS § 28-1179B)
◆◆ Spark arrestor that is USDA approved.
    (ARS § 28-1179A.4)
◆◆ Brakes adequate to stop and hold the
    vehicle. (ARS § 28-1179A.1)
◆◆ Muffler or noise dissipative device that prevents
sound above 96 decibels during prescribed
stationary sound testing. (ARS § 28-1179A.3)
◆◆ Eye protection for operators of vehicles not
    equipped with a windshield. (ARS § 28-964A)
◆◆ Headlights and taillights for use from dusk to
    dawn. (ARS § 28-1179A.2)
◆◆ Safety flag at least 6” by 12” and 8 feet above the
ground on sand dunes or areas designated by the
land management agency. (ARS § 28-1179A.5)
◆◆ Brake light and at least one red rear reflector
(if taillight does not reflect). (ARS § 28-927)
◆◆ License plate securely fastened to the rear of the
OHV and clearly visible. (ARS § 28-2512D.1&2)
    ◆◆ Rearview mirror. (ARS § 28-964B)
◆◆ Seat and footrests for the operator and passenger
if vehicle is designed to carry a passenger.
    (ARS § 28-964B)

To make your OHV street legal
    you will also need:

    ◆◆ License plate light. (ARS § 28-925C)
◆◆ Horn audible from a distance of
    at least 200 feet. (ARS § 28-954A)
    ◆◆ Proper insurance. (ARS § 28-4142A)
◆◆ Emissions: Certain areas may also
require you to have your OHV emissions
    tested. (ARS § 49-542C&D)

Title-Only License Plate: The title-only license
plate is currently identified by the letters “RV”
displayed on it. This is an identification plate
and does not allow travel on roads that require
    “street-legal” registration. (For exceptions see
    www.azgfd.gov/ohv.)

    Registration License Plate: The registration
license plate is currently identified by the letters
“MC” displayed on it. This “street legal” plate
does allow travel on roads, trails and areas on
which registration is required. It is your responsibility
to ensure that your vehicle meets the necessary
    “street legal” requirements.

Most states don't require turn signals. Arizona is one that does not require them, and it says one mirror. http://www.bikerplaza.com/motorcycle-law.html Really all you need to add (in my opinion) is a stop light. Run a TRX450R tail light, they are LED.
But I don't think you will get it street legal. I've always heard you cant run a locked rear axle on the street.

Why not? Where in the list of things I linked that is published by the state of Arizona does it talk about the axle. I see quads all the time on the streets of Arizona.

I understand you see them on the road illegally in Illinois, what I am telling you is FACT in Arizona. Arizona allows for street legal ORV's, I have posted factual information and links and you choose not to read up, fair enough.

I may not be the "authority" but I have done my research and homework, and every time I go get a title for my ATC's they ask "do I want to make it street legal?"

    More information From this link:

    http://www.ledtsk.com/AZOHVLawsRulesandRegs.pdf

"If the driver of an off-road vehicle intends to drive
on Arizona streets or highways, the vehicle must be
properly registered. An ATV must be street legal
before registration can be issued; some ATVs may
require additional equipment or modifications in
order to meet this requirement. To obtain registration,
you must visit an MVD office; you are not required
to bring the vehicle in to obtain registration."

    Equipment needed
    for registration

    • At least one brake that can be operated by hand
    or foot.
    • Brake light.
    • At least one, but not more than two, headlights
that shine at least 500 feet ahead.
    • At least one taillight visible for at least 500 feet
    to the rear.
    • At least one red rear reflector, if not part of
    the taillight.
    • License plate securely fastened to the rear of
    the ATV.
    •License plate light.
    • Horn audible from a distance of at least 200 feet.
    • Muffler in good working order and in constant
operation. Muffler cutout, bypass or similar
    device prohibited.
    • Rearview mirror.
    • Seat and footrests for the operator.
    • Fuel tank cap.
    • If you live in the Phoenix or Tucson metro
areas you may also need to have your ATV
    emissions tested.

There are two plates you get for an ORV. One is the R/V and one is the M/C. The RV is strictly off road, the M/C may be street legal if you have the above list of requirements. Emissions testing and insurance to me is the biggest hurdle, not the axle, not street legal tires etc etc......Many of the riding areas in Arizona are fire roads or "maintained" roads and require the M/C plate to ride, which means they have to be "street legal", not just for off road use (RV plate).
