Kasey, i've never used them, but i do have a "product evaluation" article im my november 85 3wheeling magazine.

Theres no doubt about it, the allready great sliding ability of the 250R becomes even better, The westcoast-built wheel spacers are identicle to the team honda units, but are stainless steel.

So how do you test a spacer hub? You go out and ride it untill either you or the hub drops,....The hub Won! after several days of aggressive riding and uncounted slides, these stainless steel beauties looked brand new, about the only thing that may shy a prospective customer away from a set of these hubs is the price: they arent cheap, with a suggested retail price of $148.00, it's geared for the serious racers only. but just think, you not only get the improved handling, but you also get that factory racer look to boot, and you can't put a price on that!

Around the grand national circuit, it's not unfamiliar to see spectators in pits, drooling over the pro factory bikes. These squeaky clean machines are often strutting one-off parts that the avid enthusiast would trade their mother-in-law for. Unfortunatly, many of these exclusive, custom-made pieces often remain that......strictly exclusive!

The one part that we've personally been eyeing at camp honda has been their dynamite extended hubs. These hubs extend outward, 2 or 3 inches, and increase the track of the bikes without the need of aftermarket axles or spacers. Best of all, they give the machines that proffesional, custom race look: we just had to have a set. The problem was, there weren't for sale.

You can imagine our surprise after coming into the office one morning to find a set of westcoast's new spacer hubs on our desk. Although these hubs weren't exactly the same the same as the ones used by the big red racing machine (and not made by the same company), they are one fine piece of craftsmanship.

Fabricated of 17-4 stainless steel through an aerospace casting process, heat treated, and machined to a high tolerance, they look absolutely bulletproof. They also have the added advantage of using larger than stock studs for added safety under race-type conditions. It all sounds good, but how do they work?

Great! Installing them is as easy as removing the old wheel and hub, installing the new hub, and replacing the wheel. There are even holes in the spacers to allow for the easy installation of the cotter pins. With models available for all years of ATC250R and ATC200X, as well as the new 350X, we installed a set on our warmed over '85 250R for an evaluation........and didn't want to take them off.

Just as with axle spacers, these extended hubs really aren't for all kinds of riding terrain. These units increased the width of our rear track from 33.5-in. to 39.5-in., which really made the already easy sliding machine a sweetheart in the corners, but at high speed it also had the disadvantage of finding more ruts and obstacles on the trail. You'll probably notice that most flat track and motocross racers use widened rear ends, because fast, smooth, and tight turns are a major factor in this type of racing. But in desert racing, where high speeds and narrow trails are the name of the game, the stock, narrower rear ends are the way to go. Obviously, it's a good idea to set your bike up for the type of riding you plan on doing

My hubby drug em home....I needed a good carrier, and a better axle, that isnt rust pitted, and my left wheel hub still refuses to come off. So I guess I got lucky huh...Here is a pict, with em on the axle. This stuff certianly gets the curiosity going huh.. :-D

definatly very neat, i been hopin i would come across a set, well at least i know that there are some out there. now to just find some for sale
