Walk away from it for the night. Dry up all water you can and put a fan on electrical overnight. Same thing happen to me with a lawn mower, I cleaned what I could, put a fan on it and waited overnight. Next day it fired up.

The water should be no problem we pressure wash ours and drive them through water up to the racks. Check all your battery connections im guessing one is loose or poor connection. Also check connections at the solonoid and starter. If that doesnt do it it could be your solonoid but if it clicks its probably good.

I had the same problem with my 85 Big Red and I just kick started it for about 5 starts and pumped the electric start a couple times and it finally started then. My friend had the same problem and just wiggled some of the starter wires around and fixed it.

Try charging your battery up as well as checking all the conections. They have to be clean and tight!

If all wiring is perfectly clean and tight. Jump across the solenoid w a screwdriver,/ If it starts w the screwdriver,,, you need brushes or a new starter.
Please help those who cannot help themselves.

ALWAYS buying Museum quality machines,3 and 4 wheels. And any and ALL ,NOS parts,EVERY brand.

I am turning my PM's Off,my Email is billsracing@hotmail.com,put 3WW in the subject. Thanx!

Some times if the brushes get hung up on a bad spot the starter will not engage after the solenoid tells it to. I would disconnect the starter and take it off. When you get it off turn the output shaft and see if you can feel a tough spot. If so avoid that tough spot and put it back on. Generally it will
    light off after that.
