    powder coat exhaust

Is it possible to powder coat an exhaust pipe? or does it get too hot and the the powder coating melts off?

ive done a few, and yes they hold up.. as long as factory, no.. but surely do last quite a bit of time, depends on how thick the pipe is and so on, i feel it does last alot longer then the spray can of heat paint..
Ride it like you stole it! And never look back! They are too far behind to see!

that ceramic coating is nice. how much does that cost? i might just chrome the pipe, not sure.

thanks for the suggestions. ceramic coating does look nicer than powder on exhaust.

The cost depends on the condition of the exhaust.I bought the pipe new and within a few hours on it,it rusted pretty bad cuz of water,dirt,etc..The black coating that DG puts on the header pipe is crap!Because of the rust and trying to get most of it off, when he coated it,it shows some pit marks in it.But,only if you look at it close-up.It cost just as much as the pipe! :x

Haven't used it yet. It's going on the project x.It's suppose to hold up for a long time. It's better than a chromed pipe, cuz it's like powdercoating,it's baked on.

It shouldn't rust, at least not for a very long time. Ceramic coating is now common place on most high perfromance header(s) in the auto industry where the header(s) are visible and you want them to look good for a long time.

its not powder or ceramic coating, but a friend of mine is into hot rods andtold me about the coating he uses on his hot rods headers. he has had the headers on his camaro coated with POR(paint over rust) for 8 years without discolor or rust. here is the link:http://www.prp-porstore.com/faqhtpc.html
