    '85 250r clutch installation ?

I'm putting an '85 250r engine together. I have the clutch installed, but I can move the basket just a bit on the shaft. Looking at the diagram in the manual I have it together properly. Just can't remember if the whole assembly should move horizontally on the shaft. Thanks, Matt.

I just did this last week and can't remember there being any play in the basket... I'll have to look at my spare clutch but I believe there is a washer behind the basket then a washer, the lock (bendable) tab and then the nut in front of the basket. I put the nut on with and impact and I'm sure there was no play.

The clutch center (witch holds the plates) and pressure plate do not move. The basket witht the attatched gear move a bit. They both seem to spin independently from each other. Been a while since I've had this engine apart, just can't rememder. I would hate to get it all together and installed and not be right.

It's an engine. You should have no play. Recheck everything for wear,or a missing washer. 1 or 2 mm off in these will break them : )

I have the thrust washer that goes between the basket and clutch center. Also the one on the end with the locking washer and final nut.
