lets leave icky e10 out.. e anything for that matter, back to regular race fuel (or avgas) one thing you can do if your running race fuel, is advance the timing... which will give you more power.. more octane means a slower burn, which if ya don't need it will do just what they said, hurt performance...

Iv ran 115 octain race gas is stock machines before. It was given to me.It smells awsome when it burns. On my 230 quadsport it ran great didnt notice any performance gains .The 250rs ran good on it. Didnt notice any difference .I know if you mix Cam-2 and Klotz your exhaust smells sweet.

As a general rule of thumb, if your engine is not detonating then there is no need (or benefit) of a higher octane. If your engine is all dialed in with the correct timing etc. and has detonation, you more than likely need more octane. Otherwise you're just wasting your money on a higher octane fuel.

My mom always says she runs a tank of "the good stuff" (93 octane) every once in a while to "clean her car out". It doesn't matter how many times I explain it to her, she still thinks that it actually does something.

For most 4 stroke applications race fuel is not required.
However, hi performance 2 strokes love it..Not that AV gas either..They dont like that stuff.
110 Leaded race fuel is a benefit these days since the quality of premium pump gas has gone way down. 2 strokes love at least 93 octane, but the crap you get at the pump is hardly that rating at a constant level.
Plus 110 leaded fuel actually helps lube the top end and crank bearings. You do feel a difference in a mildly built Hi performance 2 stroke.

Also another thing to keep in mind is leaded hi octane fuel does not burn well at low temps.

I run at least a 50 50 mix of premium pump and 110 in all my 2 strokes except the banshee since they are low compression engines.

Dont get me wrong most 2 strokes run okay on 93 pump gas, but if it is available and you can afford it 110 is worth it IMO.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

When I was reading up on using Toluene I ran into an octane test that said Shell Premium 93 they tested showed an R+M rating of 96. I usually stay away from Shell as it seems to cost more, but from now on that’s what the bikes will get when I’m up there, even if it was an anomaly.

around here you have to put a fragrance additive in your race fuel so the track workers know if your running race fuel. ends up smelling like grapes usually.

When I first started drag racing I ran ultra 94 and klotz supertechniplate and everyone thought I was running alchohol.Last year I ran Cam-2 and Amsoil Dominator and noone thought anything about it.LOL.My mom also thinks if she runs a tank out the "good stuff" it cleans out her fuel system.LOL.
