my 87 kxt 250 engine id# reads kx250de, is this a kx motor? Also i think i may have a bad right crankshaft seal, is there any way to be sure without tearing down the bottom end, I have the head and cylinder off. :-D

goto www.buykawasaki.com and compare the clutch baskets. that is the only way to tell if it is a kx or kxt. was your tranny fluid dropping? if it was dropping and not leaking out a hole int eh case then your seals are bad. a pressure/leakdown can be performed but the engine has to be assembled for that.
