    Honda ATC Front Hub Swap

Hey ya'll, this might be dumb question. I was wondering if I could take the front hub, rim, and tire off of my 84 250r and put it on my 81 200? Will it fit on the front axle? Anything else ya'll have to add would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

What is the bolt pattern on the front hub of an 84 250r? Will my 250r fit on the axle of my 200? If not, what hub has the same bolt pattern and will fit on my Honda 200 ATC axle?

    Thanks for any input!

I wish I knew. But they changed allot of hubs and spacers through the years. Very small MM's but it made them "Not fit".

Your 81 has no rotor so even with the rotor off, I imagine it won't be centered.

Check your inside diameters of axles and bearings. I had a 200x front hub on a 110, I just had to cut down some spacers to center it. Keep in mind that the skinny tires don't have much squish, so on the un-suspended models, the ride is gonna be rough.

83-84 250r hub is same thing as 83-85 200x hub, same wheel just gold. same front caliper also. yeah it should fit the axle but prob you will need spares. if you need more help use ebay, look for front axle bearings and it will tell you what all they fit into.

Since you have both already, how about you try it and tell us if it will fit.

I would try, but my axle on my 250r is stuck hard. I was gonna have to take it to the shop to get it off with power tools. I just wanted to see what I could find out before I spent the money. There's only one shop here that will touch a trike and they ain't friendly or cheap. They'll charge me a full hour ($70) just to unscrew the axle. I had thought about it not being centered. What gave me the idea though is I have a 250r project just sitting there with a brand new tire. Thank all of ya'll for taking the time to answer.

One more dumb question: What if I just swapped the whole front end? Take the triple-trees and all and put them on my 200. Anyway that will work?

    Thank ya'll

It took a breaker bar to bust loose the axle on my 200. Remember these things are old and assembled in Japan. It might take some elbow grease to break it loose. Have you soaked it with PB blaster or such? Any auto mechanics in your area willing to help you out? Give it a little heat maybe? Stupid question but you have loosened the binder on the other side?

From my experience, there are 2 basic Honda ATC steering stems/necks.There are the shorter/fatter ones(200x, 350x, 250es, 250sx, 2nd and 3rd gen 250r), and the taller/skinnier ones(70,90,110,125,185,200s, maybe 1st gen 250r?) I've never owned an R, so I can't say any more about the 1st gen. I know the 2nd gen is the same as a 200x, and the 3rd gen is the same as a 350x. So to make a short answer long, no. lol
