In dire need of advising RE:Decompression Honda 185s

Silly girl! Engines are for boys!

Yes they are! Being female gives me the best excuse for being mechanically retarded!

When I pull the cord on my 185s, the decompression lever is released but then does not go back into place. Yes, the cable and spring are both in place.(I know the photo shows them unattached, it's just to show the position of lever).

If I take the cable off I am unable to pullstart (another disadvantage of being female). And I don't have any good steep hills nearby.

I removed the lever to see what I could see.... I see nothing so I took another photo. Will anyone please help me out on what I should or can do next?

It is supposed to rain later today and I really need to be able to go play in the mud.

The return spring in the pic is supposed to pull it back after 1 revolution pull of the recoil cord . Need to make sure the recoil is working properly also .
Disconnect the cable and pull the compression arm back till it stays . pull the recoil and see if it snaps back down like it should ? If not stretch the spring or replace it so it has good tension .

I guess it has to be the spring. I kind of had a feeling that was what it was. But figured that would be way to easy. I am going to give this a try right now because the clouds are moving in fast! Thanks ,I'll let ya know...Lisa

    lever does not snap back

The lever will not snap back and still will not after stretching out spring. I removed the lever and put a flash light up to the hole. It looks like something in that hole is not lining up right. I have a bad feeling I am going to have a project.
