    atc 110 keeps jumping time

points type no cdi. keeps jumping time by a few degrees. adust ingition timing. runs perfect. take it for a spin as soon as you accelerate moderately. begins to to backifire. timing is out again by a few degrees. stator plate is not loose. and does not change position after adjusted and tightened down. wut to check next? bad key or timing chain?

Have you tried adjusting your timing chain? If so then its either time for a new timing chain or your timing chain sprocket on your crank could be slipping.

Advance plate behind the points has 2 tiny springs. runs off the cam in the head

They break and the plate may rotate into the advance position or some other wrong rusted place.

so you can have spark and fuel and no run because it's relative timing is off.

Please let us know what you find

    Timing chain?
    doubtful

    try clicking the following words

    service manual

it should be lit as a clickable link

    and try the search key

if it doesn't work let me know and I'll try it for you

by 'stator plate' do you mean the parts by the stator behind the flywheel??
or the spark advance plate under the points

wasnt the springs. gas tank is leaking gotta fix that then going to adjust the cam chain and set the timing again.

thanks to all who replied. adjusted cam chain and was better, but still jumped time. my problem was with the drive chain. was about 2 inches loose. adjusted that and bingo. great running machine. thanks to all who supplied info. now onto my 85 big red(mine since 1985)

you mean cam 'drive' chain was 2 inches sloppy?

or adjusted cam chain and it held ignition timing better?

    Glad you got it working.

    Have fun with the br.
I like having at least one 90/110 and 250
