I'm not trying to be the black sheep here, but the rotor should be fine. Shimano manufactures parts for china bikes and top of the line downhill bikes. Some of those guys run 29 inch tires going well over 50 down some of the roughest terrain. The brake should hold fine. Just cause your daughters bike has one on it, doesn't mean they only make cheap parts for wal mart shitake. I can agree however on the shady "laser cuts'" and packaging, especially for such expensive parts. And the fact you had to machine them further is unacceptable.

Don't waste your time, or time will waste you.
29 inch tires at fifty on a 20lb bicycle is a bit different than 50mph on a 200lb.machine. I ended up modding a pit bike rotor that I feel alot safer using. I agree that the rotor would be fine on a stockish 70 but I told them what I am building and I just wouldn't trust using it.as far as getting raw, unmachined parts,I called them again this past weekend to ask them how they can justify selling a pile of parts that don't fit together for the same cost as a finished hub. He said that they don't sell many unwelded but when I called initially I was told by two different people,a week apart that they sell them like that all the time. When I brought up the cost, I explained that the hub needs to be machined to fit the axle tube whether they sell it together or unwelded. His response was that they don't sell them machined when they are ordered unwelded because every wheel is different and the wouldn't be able to true it if it was sent machined.I finally got him to agree to take back the rotor atleast, and says he will call me as soon as he gets it and promptly refund my money for the rotor. We will see. his shlt packing may be a lil better than my shlt packing! lol
