New guy with a 225dx

hey guys Im new here and have a few questions

my trike runs fine up to 1/4 throttle but after that it falls on its face and dies out.I have noticed that with the choke set it seems to run a tad bit better but still will die if i the throttle.
I cleaned the carb fully, the main jet was plugged solid only one or two ports were open, i have it all set the a/f screw is 1.5 turns out from bottomed out, if there a way to test the choke if it is my issue?
It sounds like the trike is sucking in more air than it needs, the foam around my filter cylinder is gone, so i just put it back in that way, the air box is sealed up no leaks, does anyone have any ideas or advise, i really want to see this things full potential!!

first off you are running the mixture screw too lean, and second with out the foam around the filter it leans it out even more, so get a foam filter and oil it and then slightly adjust your mix screw till it runs right.
