    Honda 1984 200x serious restore HELP

    Alright so some one was giving away this gem honda 1984 200x at a yard sale so i picked it up so far i got the engine wiring together and got it running thing is, i have no idea where/ if there is a clutch on this thing. I can shift it up and down but it feels like its always in gear i believe its a centrifugal clutch perhaps? Getting ready to hook up the brakes as there are no brake cables or clutch cables, just want to make sure this thing isnt going to start and just go but that it will wait for some throttle. also there are some tubes coming out of the engine casing that connect to nothing, they are about 3/4-1 inch in diamiter. as you can tell i have no clue what im doing but kinda know my way around small engines So my questions are
    1. Should there be a primary hand clutch?
    2. What are the tubes coming from the engine towards the back
    3. is this more trouble than its worth??

    That's a 200x with a 200s motor. To each their own but it bugs me when people do those conversions. Now you are stuck with an auto-clutch unless you want to go pick up a 200x motor.

    Take a good close up picture of the tubes you are referring too. At this point I am guessing crank case breather tubes.

    Ya it looks like they could be breather tubes I'll get a pic on here shortly, my main concern is if I should have a clutch lever on this type of engine or no? And this thing is smoking so bad geeze I got it on the condition I wouldn't spend over 100$. It needs the whole throttle assembly all the way into. The carb any idea where I can get one cheap? From what I'm seeing looks like it could possible be fabricated, any thoughts on that , I'm a real cheap ass if you couldn't tell by my sock air filter and mountain dew gas tank

    Ok so there's the levers w no gear on them I believe one is suppose to be a clutch? Is that correct? And a pic of the carb missing the throttle choke mech and lastly the tube I'm not sure of its function

    where you drew the red circle...those are crank case breather tubes...you need those. Also, yes, it looks like the PO (previous owner) left the clutch perch on the bike, but you won't need it because the motor in your 200x frame is a 200S motor. Centrifugal clutch (auto-clutch). What I am saying is you have the wrong motor in the frame. If you want to make it correct you need to go find a 84 or 85 200x motor. I have placed a link for a 200x motor below. They are relatively easy to find.

    You can get a complete new carb for $25-$30 on ebay, easy to find. You could reconfigure everything and keep the 200s motor, not that big of a deal unless you really really want a manual/hand clutch type motor. I like the autos myself, but i know its not everyones liking.

    You could get the 200s service manual to see the routing of the breather hoses and stuff like that, as it would be in the correct frame. You should have that service manual anyway for the motor. Smoking could be one of two things... I assume you mean blue smoke as in burning oil. Either the valve stem seals or the rings. If it sat for a very long time the cylinder could be rusted up and it will wear in after a while and stop smoking, been there done that on a few old trikes that sat for years. Usually when i get one that sat for a while i dump some oil down the plug hole and change the oil and let it soak overnight, then slowly turn it over by hand a few times before running it, then run it without much if any revving, just let it idle for a while, see if it clears up, then change oil again to get the crap out. Sometimes i get lucky, sometimes they still smoke some. The 200's also like to smoke a bit after they sat and oil seeps down past the valve stem seals overnight, then the next morning you fire it up and get smoke for a little bit and it goes away after riding it a bit, good sign that its a valve stem seal leak.
