    185s dg exhaust help please

I have a 185s that had a rotten exhaust. I have purchase a dg full exhuast but it came with terrible directions. I know it reuses the mounting bolts but should i try to fit on the clamp that connected the old head pipe to the muffler on the new exhuast. I don't see any type of gasket at the head so is there supposed to be one and it rotted off? any advise or info would be helpfull. Thanks for your time
Drive it like you stole it!

Yes use the old clamp. You should have a copper gasket that fits inside the head. If it didn't fall out when you removed the old exhaust then its still there. Make sure its up in the head. If not, buy a new one. They are readily.available on bike bandit.

are you talking about where the header and the muffler connect? my 185s came with a dg pipe allready installed when i bought it. i was woundering how the two pipes were fitted together since there is no clamp holding the two and no signs of welds. plus my pipe is bolted directly to the frame should there be some kind of bushing to allow the pipe to expand and contract?

Yaegerb has a point. The copper gasket almost always stays stuck inside of the cylinder when you remove the exhaust. Put the new header on, tighten the bolts and if it can be moved around (is loose) then your copper gasket my have worn out and you need a new one. Header should be snug when the bolts are tightened to the flange.
