My 85 atc 70 has been popping out of gear lately and now it shifts both ways. I heard there was a recall on the trans in 85 is this true. And what do I need 2 look for when I take it apart.

Broken shift drum stopper very common issue , its located behind the clutch cover . Heres the part .
