Need help finding a part and also description as to what it does

If anyone can help i sure would appreciate it. I have a 1984 honda atc 200 es. The reverse stop lever broke inside the sub transmission and broke a hold thru the bottom of the pan. I bought a repair manual online already to start with. Honda lists the part obsolete. What does the part actually do? Also does anyone have one or know someone that has one for sale? I am going to patch the hole. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you talking about the reverse lockout? the gate that prevents you from shifting into reverse so you don't make your transmission into a jug of metal flakes?

post a pic of the part and the damage.

    is it this? (Click Here)

    I'll just leave this here:

Thanks Furno, but that is not the part. The piece is shaped like a boomerang and has a spring attached to it. When i pulled the sub tranny, it was still connected to the machine with a nut and spring. Hope that helps

    Click this link for fiche

    # 12 on the fiche

The original part number was this: 24720-969-000, followed by this: 24720-969-010

It was ultimately replaced by this: 24720-969-020 ! LEVER, REVERSE STOPPER | Use up to Engine SN 6102337

I think thats the part you want. Looks like multiple vehicles use it. As for finding it, Ebay may be your friend, But I dont see any. You could always just buy the whole shebang:

    Ebay link,

Heres a pic from that ebay posting, is that what u need?

Edit: That's not my ebay posting, just a reference, I make no guarantees.

Also, I dont really recommend patching a hole in the bottom of the case, It may leave you stranded, just replace it.

That is it. Broke right at the bolt hole. Cant find one on ebay. Still looking. If i got the whole thing, that would be called the bottom end correct.

You're going to have to just buy that whole side of the case. Theres a few more than the one I linked available on Ebay, unless a member here has one you can get.

Just click the blue link in my last post, itll bring you right to it. i'm seeing them for around $150.

The entire group is listed in fiche as Side Gearcase + Gross Shaft.

If you are going to replace the parts, I have a set of honda gaskets for that submission if you're interested, they've been sitting in my garage for a couple years, and I don't own a 200es....

What is a whole motor ( or a parts machine ) worth to you? I have 2 of these machines at the shop and we are trying to down size. My zip is 45822 if you want to see how far away I am.

Sorry to bump an old thread but what exactly does the reverse stopper lever do? I have a 84 trx200 and as far as I can tell the sub trans is the same as the 200es. I got it as a partial trade and the thing ran and drove great. It developed an oil leak but still drove and shifted just fine. I reached under the sub trans cover and felt jb weld. Pulled it apart and the reverse stopper lever came falling out in three pieces. Keep in mind it shifted fine right up to the point that I tore into it...so what is its purpose?
