    250SX tank decals

I sent a message to this guy a couple of days ago- http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-ATC-250...c31dc4&vxp=mtr

We've got a ride coming up and I'd like to have my decals ready for the ride. He hasn't responded to my message. Any chance the seller is a member here and maybe he's looking or someone knows him?

    Thanks.

Well, I kinda hope he isn't a member hear... because I have to say his decals are not very good... in my opinion.

I received a complete set from him from E-bay for my 86 SX. Among a few issues I have with these decals, the worst is the stripping in the color. To get a good idea of what I mean, put an almost empty cartridge in your inkjet printer and then print a photograph... my tank decals were just ugly.

On the flip side, he completely refunded my purchase price and shipping, so customer service was top notch. However, the product is not up to OEM quality.

I'll try to get a picture of my tank decals so you can see what I mean.

So, am I being picky? YES. But to me, this isn't acceptable... (you have to click on the picture and zoom).

Also, the graphics appear to be raster graphics, instead of vector graphics. The solid red isn't solid red, it is noisy like a grainy photograph.
...and the red isn't even close to the original color.

I did Rory. Mine started leaking from a pin hole at Trikefest. It needs a whole new paint job now. For the time being I'm going to run a plastic Clarke tank I picked up from Bill. I'd like to put some decals on that one as well.

So does anyone have anybody they can recommend for some quality decals?

I was pretty sure that stuff was Kiwi, but couldn't say for sure. As what I have had has came w other machines, and it is nowhere near what it should be!! To say the least. This is where you want to get all your decals you can,,,however, they don't have the tanks yet : ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-1986-1...ht_1303wt_1189

So,,I would say Harlan they speak of on here, not sure of his ebay name, but he sells on there. Good luck!

Maybe give Blue27 a shot? I've seen his work and it's pretty top notch as well. I know many people on here have purchased signs (myself included) and I know there was a recent thread on here where he created a new decal for someone? Plenty positive feedback on his feedback thread. I will be "employing" him to recreate my KLT 185 decal set that no one else has available.

I emailed Harlan, the email address Bill posted is indeed correct. He is shipping me out the two tank decals for $27 shipped. I'm expecting some nice decals as Harlan's reputation precedes him. However he did say that these decals WILL NOT work with a plastic tank. I was curious if they would work if I added perforations to the decals before application. I've applied decals before that are designed not to bubble on plastic tanks and they were perforated. They stuck on well and are actually still sticking to the tank today. I emailed Harlan back to ask his thoughts on the perforation idea but I've yet to hear back from him.

I shall keep you all informed and thank you all for the replies.

aftermarket decals / getting em to stick

I red coated (sealed) a red plastic Tecate gas tank in order to get the no perforated decals to stick. They stayed stuck very well.
TecateDan should be able to give further update about that tank since he has owned it for a couple of years now,,,,

I have a set of Harlan's 86 250SX tank decals on a Red-Coat Sealed plastic tank. The decals have held up, with some air bubble pockets, but the Red Coat did not. That's all I want to say about that.

I'm looking for suggestions on what I can use to perforate the decals. I want tiny hole but they have to be punched out, like cookie-cutter style. I don't want to just pop nails through it and then have little shards hanging there. I want nice, clean, even holes. If I have to build a little "tool" or something with a bunch of hole punchers on it in order to get the line I'm looking for that's fine.

I've been thinking about it but I can't think of what would be good to use to make the holes....
