All my stockish Z's I have ever run, ran perfect on stock jetting for the 85 model with aftermarket filters and various aftermarket pipes. Most times you can bolt on the mods and ride it with no rejetting needed, assuming you have the 85 carb. 86 carbs were different and jetted leaner from the factory..Somewhere down around the 360 range on the main if I recall correctly, was stock jetting on the 86.

I left the jetting alone with the addition of the pipe and it still seems a bit on the rich side, but better. I think I could run a 350 or 360 in the summer and still be fine.
You must be running a 86 carb if you are in the 300's on the main.
