    Joining the club

Greetings! I will be getting a 3 wheeler at the end of the month, so I have been doing alot of researching online and it seems all my searches lead me here. So I joined up to what appears to be a great site.

I had to sell my four wheelers last year do to....I'll skip the sob story. Anyway I hated not having a mode of transportation hunting last fall since I have had an atv for almost 20 years until last fall. Getting rides to my stands, waiting on someone else's schedule, having to borrow one to haul a deer or stand or firewood drove me nuts as I hate being Dependant on anybody. For the prices I am looking at it seems I can get a pretty decent 3 wheeler for the $400-$650 range where as that same amount would barely get you a piece of junk 4 wheeler. I have been searching craigslist daily trying to find a Honda Big Red 250! that would be my ideal 3 wheeler. But there seems to be alot more Honda 200's or even 185's or Yamaha 200/225's. Would the smaller hondas/yamahas work for what I described needing it for? I am pretty handy mechanically and am looking forward to picking up a wrench again and restoring this winter what ever I end up with.

    Thanks! Great site!

250 Big Red if you can find it (rear suspension, power), but an 84 Big Red 200es might not be bad and should be easy to find. It had reverse, elec start, shaft drive, 5 speed and hi/lo range.

200m is basically like a Pre-84 Big Red. Had elec start, but no reverse, chain drive, and no hi/lo range. That's what we had growing up. All these machines can go through a lot. Reverse is not always a huge deal since the machines can be easily manhandled. Never carried any animals on mine, maybe reverse would be handy for that. Back in the day most hunters seemed to have big reds or 200m.

I had a 200 big red with low and reverse it was a heck of machine pulled a doe out last year out of some flooded timber that was all the way up to my 25 inch tires but no suspension makes a long day of riding hard on the back wish I never would of sold it
I didn't want to shoot that man but he heard that I was fast you know hat liqueur gave him the courage that put him in the ground

Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!

Mossy , I also needed something for deer hunting and got back on 3 wheels because of the price . I mainly use a 84 200es . Works great for the ground I hunt on ,,, Last season I used my 85 250 SX , awesome ride . I use a small trailer I built for both . I like the Bigred because of the trunk space , and the low range , because we cut wood when were there and I pull the bigger trailer full of wood . 250es if you can get one . I had a 84 YTM 200e nice machine just didn't hold up to the Hondas for my taste . Heres a pic of the 200es ,,
