85 and 86 carriers are different, because of the way the brake caliper hooks up.The 85 caliper mounts to a bracket that is welded to the swingarm. And the 86 has a plate with a big hole that goes around the end of the carrier, and is held on with a big snap ring. hope this helps and does'nt confuse you more.
