200x rear hub delema

ok trying to figure out what to do w/o spendign a lot of coin as most of my $ is goig to my kids' ATV racing stuff.
I have a 84 200x. I can lock the rear break and the bike rocks a bit back and forth, when tryig to figure out of the bearings were bad, I discovered the axle teeth and hubs were both worn. (guess the stocker axles/hubs can only take cso much hop-up power before they wear out). So I am going to have to get another axle and hub set. my question is this, Should I look to getting another good used 200x axle with good teeth and hubs or should I save up for a couple of months and get some durablue ones? the durablue oens are about $300 for the axle/hub set then the spindles I would get from a 350x. But that means not being able to really ride the bike hard for a few months. If I go the stock route, i can get the parts for udner $100 but in a yr or so, i have to replace them again too. So what do ya'll think? I would like better than stock so i do not have to deal with this again though.

Sounds like you answered your own question with your last sentence. If you change your mind, though, I have an axle and "maybe" some hubs. I'd have to check on those.

IMHO - the stock parts should never wear out unless they're run loose at some point.

However, any used stock axle is likely to be bent like all other first gen 200x axles.

I'm a cheap ba$tard - I'd get a stock axle and a set of 400EX hubs. Or maybe just the EX hubs - how bad are your axle splines?

Hmmm, what kind of power are you running to eat away at the splines on the axle? I have seen splines go bad as the result of running loose castle nuts on the hubs. Stock 200x axle/hub splines are good enough to run any power that a 200x can throw at it. IMO, the only advantage of a durablue or finishline is the length and the tensile strength of the axle itself.

In summary, I would just go with the OEM unless you want a wider/harder to bend axle.

ok good points guys. yea when i got the bike the nuts were loose, so maybe that is why they are worn. I keep them tighter than a tiajuana wh.... (n/m) but still previous owner did it so I guessi gotta fixor it. So someone here has a good 84-85 axle? (83 i "think" were slightly different in diamater or length (where the axle sits in the hub part is where i mean)
Gotta be 100% straight though.

what yr 400ex hubs? i gotten a set once time, but they were too big. so i need to know what year so i get the right ones.

Depending on how wore the splines are on the axle you may have some options. If the axle splines are only lightly wore you could try some Yamaha hubs. The yamaha hubs are ever so slightly smaller and this would take some slop out of it. I have other "un-proven yet" ideas that could buy you some time providing the splines aren't too bad.

i know banshee and blaster hubs do fit on the splines of older hondas ( with wear ) id buy new trx hubs or find some that are a year or 2 old never been off the axle. your best idea is to run a 82 250r durablue but your out more then your 200x will be worth. i just dont see any point in messing with 30 year old parts which you run the risk more stuff is wasted by that age.
