picking up an 85 tecate next weekend

Im going to trade my 83 freebie big red for an 85 tecate next weekend. It's missing the cylinder and head. I was wondering if i could use an 85 kx250 cylinder and head or just get a tecate cylinder? Also what mods would you do to it?

84 or 85 KXT250 Tecate head and cylinder or 83 or 84 KX250 cylinder The KX cylinder has roughly 5 more hp through the addition of extra ports in the cylinder, a split exhaust port and will give more mid top power. They are bolt on and go.

85 KX250 cylinder will not work. You can do any mods that are done to a 2 stroke.. port the cylinder, deck or rechamber for more compression (race gas), larger carb (stock is a 34mm), free flowing pod air filter (toss the stock restrictive airbox), Pipe and silencer, reeds, shim the tank back and shave the steering stops for more steering angle.

jeswinehart on the site repops most of the parts you will need to get it up to speed (intake boot, chain slider)
