    1984 honda big red "knock"

Hey all, I just picked up a '84 big red. I'm just starting to get in running. My question is when it's running (with choke half on) there's what sounds to be a hard knock every 5 seconds or so. I had an 82 klt 200 and it did the same thing. Would the valve knock that bad? Just wondering if anyone else has had this or has any idea what it is.

QUICK UPDATE: i got the cam chain adjusted right and im in the process of adjusting the valves. i got the exhaust vavle but does anyone have a easier way to get to the intake valve for adjustment. cant seem to get anything in there to losen up the locking nut in there.

    Thanks guys!

Sloppy timing chain maybe... I had one that did that, every so many cycles she would pop a little rough and make the chain slap. Is it running even or missing a little? Check the plug and see what its looking like. Might be backfiring a bit also.

I would check and adjust the timing chain and valves. And if you need the manual look below in my sig....

It's missing and backfiring. It runs ok with the choke half on but still has the backfire and miss it sounds like. I just ordered a new carb too cause the one on it was shot. Thanks for the input!
