    The Beast is ALIVE! LOL

Ok so after 2 weekends of working on the 300es its finally alive and its a monster.
Last weekend 10/13, I got thw full wiring harness and everything i needed for the 300es big red, i put everything together hooked it all up and tested the engine out, WE GOT SPARK myself and my friend yell out loud LOL, so we bring the 250es up front and we rip the engine out of it and drop in the 300, we ended up stopping a few hours later it was to late to be making noise 4am, so the next day i finished hooking all the wires up getting power making sure everything was hooked and working 100%, So after the bike was started i checked the oils and everything, then i notice a small leak from the clutch side of the case, so i take it off and clean it up and seal it up, well aparently some of the silicone i used clogged a hole that pushed oil thru and i didnt notice, So i took the bike around the block a few times to kinda re break it in, after about 25 minutes of cruising around the neighbor hood i come around the corner and the bike starts acting up big time, it didnt want to shift it didnt want to do ANYTHING the engine sound were normal but the gears didnt want to do anything it would only stay in first and thats it, so i left the bike for a few hours and i dont touch it at all, when my friend gets to my house after work me and him take engine back out of the bike and rip it apart again so see what it was, i come to find out this happened to one of the gears,

How it happened im sure it was the small hole that got sealed by mistake, Now i spent a week w/o working on the bike due to work on it own, so monday i order a brand new gasket kit for the 300 ( Lesson Learned ), and it gets here thrusday, so when i get home and see my gasket kit i grab all my tools and go work on it again, i split the case cleaned it out and put a new gear in it,

Ok, So after having to spilt the cast and getting everything working the bike still didnt want to shift, i ended up fixing it how i have no idea lol, so yesterday i get home from work and i have the whole engine taken apart gear all around the table its a mess,

I grab the laptop and look at the service manual to the 300 and start the process of putting it back together, So after a few hours i get the engine put all back together with all new gaskets and seals, we get the engine put back into the big red and hook everything back up and BOOM, It fires right back up like it was never touched ideas perfect doesnt make any bad sounds nothing, Me and my friend start putting the fenders back on putting the swing arm making sure it shifts thru all the gears, we get the oil put back in get it all done, My friend looks and me and says go get the SX and lets put the laws on the 300 and i dont even think twice, I get the tires put on and NOW at 1AM im getting my mudding clothes on and getting ready to go hit the mud,We finally get to the mud and start going thru one area that is all cement mud, My friend drives over it with my sx and doesnt even dig in,( SX is using super swampers 25x13.50x9 ), So its super wide, But i go thru it with my skinny laws and i dig the crap out of the hole, So we stay riding around for about 2 hours just to try the bike and making sure nothing happens to it while i go riding this weekend, but the bike runs perfect im super excited to take it out for the first time this weekend with the 300 in it.

Looks like a lot a fun, good way to "stress test" it lol. Looks like the machine is in pretty good shape yet. Just a tip, keep a good eye on your axle seals and bearings including the brake drum. Mud rips stuff apart if it can get in. I know tearing the engine down that far can be a pain, I did 2 last week from 250x quads, but I just needed to do cleaning and checking everything out. Be happy the complete engine gasket kits are cheap (atleast for the 250es), I had to pay around $80 for one set on the 250x.

Wow... you guys must have some really mean mud there. It takes around 3-5 years of mudding to take out a set of bearings in my area, but it is more of a sand base mud, so maybe they don't get past the seals so easy.

A trick that worked on my 99 warrior and a trx125, put a grease zert in the rear end between the bearings and pack it full of good grease that repels water well. Not sure how easy it would be to do on the sx/es axles though.

The bike runs amazing, it has alot more power, the 250sx wouldn't turn the outlaws in deep mud and with the 300 engine it has alot of torque, I'm very happy with it

Gah.. your making me want to upgrade my mudder lol. I need to grab some outlaws for it though, I think the 28 inchers might be a bit much for it.

Yea 28s are gonna be way to much, U can go with some 25 outlaws, the only thing i would say is to find an exhaust and jet the bike before doing any serious mudding with the outlaws.

She already had a cobra when I got it . Not sure if it is jetted properly, but seems to run pretty well.

very nice work, you tore into it quick! way to be proactive about fixing something like that. Looks good too man, Im sure a 300 motor would make a big red a beast to tear around on!

Good details, I know about the sparkplug test, just never really done anything with it, I don't ride it all that much since I got my 250sx (trail bike), and now my 350x. Oddly I used my 200es more than the 250es lately for work lol.
