Angry 1983 YTM 200K Carburator Blues..

I had a thread on this awhile back but lost it so I made a new one. Ive been having a hard time with my carb. At first it would not start when hot. So I cleaned it for the second time and noticed the tip of this was broken off and jammed in the hole.

I tried everything to get it out. No luck. So I had a spare carb off a parts 200k and switched parts of the carbs. Well she starts easily and idles good but as soon as I shut it off it leaks gas out the over flow. Took it apart again, cleaned it for fun again, switched floats and main jet, put it back in and as soon as I turned on the gas in ran out the carb overflow....We'll guess Sunday i will take it apart again and switch back to the other parts that were in it and try switching out the choke and adjust it again this time. If not I guess i'll order a carb kit and hope for the best..Oh ya my parts carburator does not have this plastic piece in the bowl. Whats it for and do I need it??

I'd need to look at it close to be sure, but I think it keeps the pivot pin of the float in place in the event that it comes loose. There is a filtering screen in that area too, isn't there? Sorry, its been a while. BTW after four float needle changes and twenty some years of service I gave up on my origional carb. I don't know if it was the slide bore being worn, or a piece of crud stuck somewhere that I couldn't find, but I could not get the thing to run right, so I bought a new Mikuni carb. It was money well spent.

I didnt see a filter screen in either carburator. Hopefully it dont come down to buying a new carb....I'll try and swap out the choke today and see if that helps...
