    Removing the labels/stickers on new tires

    I have a set of new Bear Claws and would like to remove the label or sticker that has the yellow lettering on it. See pic below, I can post a better pic if you want. Has anyone ever done this? I have a ton of ideas: heat gun, goof off, acetone, lacquer thinner, etc, but I'm just curious if anyone else has tried it and if they were successful, what worked.

    I think it is painted on, so something that removes paint should work but not sure what the effect would be on the rubber.

    It looks more like a sticker. This isn't on the tire lettering. I'll take a pic once the sun comes up and post it.

    see if you can locate some (M.E.K. / methyl ethyl ketone) at your local hardware store we use it on planes for removing just about anything with adhesive and more.

    why not just mild soap and a brush... stuff doesn't stick too well to rubber from what i have found...

    I got my 22x12-8 for 117.50 shipped for the pair

    I have some MEK out in the shop, I may give that a try.

    ETA: Here is a pic of the actual sticker. It almost looks like an iron-on clear label:

    If none of the above ideas work, have your wife or girlfriend try to parallel park it next to the curb. And presto, they'll be scraped right off.

    CAUTION: Use sparingly, as your rims may get gouged as well.

    I would try wiping them off with a bit of laquer thinner... MEK is some pretty nasty stuff, would worry about it trashing the rubber
    No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

    I've had my Bear Claws about five years now. The yellow letters are created by a black cutout put on top of a yellow bar. I have no idea what either is made of. After all the rough riding I have done with these tires the black part has worn away and only the yellow bar remains. It is starting to wear through the yellow part where the letters were.

    Be very careful with MEK and use the proper PPE. Be aware that it is flammable. From the MSDS; "Hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant, permeator), of eye contact (irritant), of ingestion, of inhalation (lung irritant)... The substance may be toxic to gastrointestinal tract, upper respiratory tract, skin, eyes, central nervous system (CNS). Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target organs damage"
