I have 22 x 11 x 8 strykers on my 85 Tri Z. Any other Tri Z owners have a good input on what size is the best to get good speed and performance? i was leaning to a 20 or even a 18 inch high tire.

Try either ohuts or dunlop radials (20x10x9). You'll need new hubs and rims though. Any yamie sport quad other than the blaster has 4x115 hubs and use 9 inch rims, I suggest picking a set of these hubs and rims up and giving either of those tires a try.

Won't the blaster rims and hubs fit right on a tri-z?

While I agree with Holic 100% (that's what I have on my Z), I would suggest a flat profile 20" tire. I hate the "balloon" stock 22" tires on the 85. I switched to 18" turf tamers. they suit me fine, but most people say they don't give enough ground clearance for trail riding. To me personally the 22" inchers on the rear of the 85 Z and the 84/85 KXT seem too "roly-poly". The do provide a nice cushy ride for easy paced rides.

Yes blaster hubs will fit but they are the same as the Z 4x100. Blaster rims are steal, where the z used aluminum rims. You can always run 20's on the stock 8 inch rims but I liked the 9 inch rims and 20 inch fast trekkers on my 85 Z.

I have 22" holeshots. They have a square profile and aren't real bouncy BUT I like them becuase they give me a little more ground clearance.
Your choice of tire really should be dictated by the type of riding that you do.
Get some banshee rear wheels and hubs and everything will fit perfectly.
The banshee rear tires are great...I think they are 20 x 11 x 9 or so and make sliding the Z a breeze.
I think if the 86 and 85's came stock with this set up the turning issue would be greatly dimished. Tri Z's have the most steering lock of any trike...it makes them sharp turners.

yes the 86 model has 9 inch rims. These are like the banshee rims but a different spacing between the bolts. So you can't use banshee rims without changing the hubs. The hubs will slide right on the stock axle.
I just swiched hubs so I can order dune wheels and tires without any trouble.
Also I think the new 450 from Yamaha and the Raptor and the banshee all use the same hubs...Warrior too...
Opens up a world of possibility. Here is pic...still looks stock and I like the spacing around the hub better anyway...its more spaced out.

I wouldnt go smaller than 20", and personally I prefer 22" on a TriZ, unlike other trikes, because of its frame geometry, especially if you have the stock 25" front tire. It will powerslide corners a lot better if you can tilt it forward to reduce the "chopper" style weight distribution.
i like the 20" tires i just got my new MAXIS RAZR from santa (ups guy). i like the way they look and grab but i also get enough ground clearence as well as enough low end, there right there in the middle.. good luck
