Really sorry to hear that some folks lost property. I just returned home on tuesday after being on Long island for 24 days restoring peoples power. They were hit pretty hard. Very sad to see it first hand. We were in both ends of the spectrum, The Hamptons for 2 weeks and then Queens for 1 week. I have to say the people of Queens lost way more than the Hamptons and they were as nice as could be. Just so thankful that we were there and left our families to help out complete strangers. The Hamptons they were yelling at us telling us we suck and werent working hard enough. We were working 16 hour days seven days a week and sleeping in tractor trailers with about 30 guys in each one. But we didnt care we were there to help and just doing our job. The way some people are talking in this thread remindsme of those people from the hamptons. Just sheer arrogance. Im just a hard working middle class man that was helping out getting treated like crap. We all sad we wished we were in Queens the entire time. These people lost everything and they were offering us coffee and donuts. Just nice to see that there is still people like that in the world. Sorry for rambling but it gets old when you get bashed all the time for just trying to do your job. No matter what you do you cant please those people.
I have done a few storms Isaac for 2 weeks in New orleans Irene for 2 weeks the october snow storm Ice storms But this was the worst I have seen. Sad too when they sent us home people still were without power and probably still are.
