need help on a 110 atc

I have a 1979 honda 110 atc . I have put a new on off switch on it new plug new it and a new coil and it still does not have spark. The funny thing is that it will sometimes get spark a run all day and then the next day will not get spark at all. I have been racking my brain on this and even went as far as to clean the stator and the flywheel. The only thing that i have not replaced is the points ( which i sanded the points contacts) and the stator. Any suggestions on why it will one day just fire up and run all day and the next day nothing , not a spark at the points or plug? I know it has to be something i am missing or needs to be replaced and i surely dont want to haul to the dealer . Hopefully i can get some help from someone that knows these things, any help would be great.

I've had coil wires mees up.
cut the last little bit off the plug wire so the plug cap has fresh copper to bite into.

That doesn't account for no spark at the points however.

you mean you see no spark at the points when you spin it?

and then it will run all day...or not.

is one day damp and on day dry? id check for power with a volt meter at the wires to the coil. Just start at the stator and work your way down the system till you find where its gone. If theres no power at the stator, thats your problem

I have cut back a little at the coil wire. I see no spark at the points , or the plug and i have had it start when it has been raining out and when it is hot and dry out. I have taken a volt meter and put it to the stator wires and get a resistance reading ( when engine is not running) and done the same at the points and coil as well. I dont know if it is the correct amount of volts i am needing. I think this thing is running when it feels like it. does anyone know what i should be getting for a reading for volts at the stator coil and points? I have even checked the main ground at the bolt that holds the coil on and cleaned it up. I have a working headlight even when i pull on the cord to try to start it. I will recheck everything and post my readings to see if they are high enough.

well i check everything without pulling the pull start : switch 2.2 2 wires off the stator 2.4 points wire to a ground 2.2 and coil wire from small condensor on coil to ground 2.4 and this is all volts . i am sure this is testing the resistance though. Should i be trying to start it and then check for voltage? i do know when i had it running i tried to check voltage and it was showing no readings. ( could that be what it supposed to be doing cause it does it on my big red and my 350 as well ) So if you have any ideas or I should be pulling while i check for voltage please let me know it will be greatly appreciated and save me from loosing anymore hair.

I would check all your wires and switches with the Ohms setting. Dont forget to move and shake the wires becuase it sounds like you have a loose connection, cracked, or bare wire somewhere. Also check all the connections for corrosion. Start with your kill switch wires first.
