I used the VHT paint at 9.99$ and I guess I didn't break it in because little by little, it's coming off.

Of course I blasted it, wiped it down with acetone prior to spraying.

The BBQ paint I used on another trike, still looks good. i give.......

Well that's not good. I have that paint now and was going to spray the header & muffler tomorrow. Maybe I should Call the powder coating tomorrow & see what they think. I've got a little time, now. I took a couple hours off work today so I could break two easy-outs in two different holes in header. And they are stuck good and flush. Damn rookies, anyway! So can't do anything until I get those out. Thanks for letting me know. Btw-How did you cure it?

Best coating out there is ceramic, period. If you need to I recommend VHT like dirt crasher. You can get good results but prep is key. I always sand blast my pipes and then fill up a spray bottle with acetone. Once the acetone dries (matter of seconds) shoot it again. I like to do it 2-3 times. When that is done take a butane torch and heat the pipe. You will see the acetone and contaminants burn off (the pipe will change colors). After that, just paint. after the paint dries it take a couple heat cycles (motor at idle) to fully cure the paint.

Can anyone recommend some good paint that can withstand the heat?

It's not paint and I don't know if this will help you but it's the best thing for exhaust. Especially the head pipe. It's good up to 2500 degrees while most high temp powder coats are 1200-1500 degrees it also dispurses heat better than paint, but doesn't really help disputed heat on atvs

If you want it to last for 10+ years get it cerakoted.http://www.johnsoncustomsllc.com these guys do a very good job. They can pretty much paint or cerakote anything. They cerakoted a VW Bug headers and the coating holds up to the heat. They do normally do firearms but are more than willing to cerakote/paint anything just call them and ship it to them and they will contact and ship back to you.

They're website is a little out of wack but upper right there is a navigation button go to it and there will be selections and "contact" is in this list. I recommend contacting Darrin Johnson
