I joined the polaris club today.

Thanks to howdy, ever since trikefest My other half has been hell bent about getting a scrambler. I have been watching one on CL for the past couple of months that appeared to be in nice shape and had a parts bike with it. The seller started a little high IMO at 1500.00 About every two weeks the price went down 100.00 until it was down to 800.00 or possible trade,so I finally gave the guy a call to find out about it,this was two days ago. I thought about it for a while and decided at this time of year I probably shouldn't spend the money. It was still in the back of my head though and I mentioned it to diane yesterday and her eyes lit up.Immediatly she tells me to call the guy back and figure out how to get it. Well needless to say I figured it out,I ended up trading my daughters ktm 50 that she is too big for now and 250.00. The trike is in very nice shape but has 2 issues. The first and biggest is the rear brake rotor is missing and is also missing on the parts bike. The second issue is the starter isn't working. the starter should be an easy fix but half the trike has to come apart to get it out. I will get some pics up when I get the starter fixed and the bike is back together.

Welcome to the Club. Once you start working on them you will curse me. I probably have a brake disk.
    Things to check:
    Rear brake Caliper,
Swing arm bushings ( and the transmission where the swinger bolts fit into ),
    The starter,
and check the under side of the frame near the the floor boards ( they tend to rust out there ).

I knew about the swing arm bushings. What am i looking for on the trans where the swinger bolts up? There is no caliper on the runner but there is one on the parts bike that literally looks brand new and has brand new pads on it for sure. The starter turns (barely) maybe 1 rpm lol. I'm hoping that it just needs a good cleaning. Between the two starters I have I should be able to get one working. Let me know if you have a rotor, i really want to fix the brakes before I throw diane on it. Click image for larger version.

Awesome!! Welcome to the club. Getting to that starter motor is certainly no picnic, but you will learn a lot about that trike in the process. I have one of the clutch pullers you will need if you want to borrow it.

No trike for Amanda yet. She is still undecided about what to do. She want to ride and race the 350X, but we need to fix it first.

Forgive me for going a little off topic, But how much grab should the clutch have? Do they "snap" to life if you peg it? Mine is really gradual..Almost seems like the clutch needs to be rebuilt. The trike will not shock you if you floor it, very tame for a 250 2 stroke in my opinion. But I do not know as it is the first polaris atv I have owned. I understand it is more like a snowmobile as far as the tourqe converter goes, and most sleds will snap you when you peg it...

I dont think the Polaris snaps as it where. They will boogy just takes a bit to get it going. II just put a clutch off a newer, read 92, trailblazer as my clutch has some issues, and it pull stronger, if I just stab it to wide open, its not a suprising jump. These motors are built to rev up fast, if they were, I think you would feel a "SNAP".

Oh, it definitely scoots, Just takes a minute to get itself there. Sounds like im right where it should be.

Maybe I will look into the trailboss clutch. My belt is good, Clutch has good movement throughout the RPM range, Just double checking with the other P3 owners.

Mine does need rear caliper work, swinger bushings and a footboard fixed too haha. Completely rideable as is though

getting the starter out wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it is seized right up. I guess I was wrong about it spinning at all. I got the brushes free but even with an air on the armature it didn't budge. Another hr. on it then I will pull the starter off the parts bike and asee how bad that one is. If I can't get one working it's off to ebay for one but I would rather save the 150.00. No puller needed to get the starter out keister but I do appeciate the offer. I do however need a 2013 calender.I keep my 2012 in the truck with my work schedule on it and showed it to the seller when I went to look at the trike and he thought it was the coolest thing,so I gave him my 2013 when I picked the trike up. keep one aside for me I will send money the next time I add to my paypal for parts. Back to the garage now to work on that starter lol.
