    atc 250r 38 MM PJ

hey guys, i got a 38mm for my 250r. i ran it without any airbox or anything just idling and barely rode it. i know for a fact it's to rich. it had a 185 to a 175 with a 48 pilot i think. im in NY, so the elivation is about 500 feet ( give or take ) so what do you think main i would need? 165? this is just to start someware, jetting is all bout testing-experimenting, but i want to know ware is a good start. also should i have clip on second? and i think pilot is fine. let me know what you know/ or think, thanks

William, it's really hard to give an exact starting point. Just keep dropping your main jet size 1 at a time till you get it where it needs to be.

If it is ridiculously rich up top, then you could most likely, safely drop 2 sizes right now. But after that go 1 at a time.

As to the slide needle, put the clip in the middle groove and forget about it till you get the main dialed in. Once the main is dialed in you can then accurately dial in the needle position..

BUT: If you only idled it/barely rode it, it's quite possible it was blubbery and rich feeling because you probably didn't run it hard enough and long enough to get it completely up to temp and cleaned out. So, I wouldn't get too worried that it's too rich till you get a chance to really run it.

My R is jetted in nice for every day riding, not on the ragged edge, but not fouling plugs either. And the first couple times I start to on the happy lever after initial warm up it is a touch blubbery. Once that cleans out its good to go the rest of the ride....

You ran it without a airbox or filter?
You may want to get that set-up on or a pod filter then jet what you will run with. Jetting with no intake system is a lost cause.

Honestly at 500 feet with just a pipe and reeds, 175 and 48, needle in the middle should be close.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...
