    87 tecate 3 crankshaft

Hi guys....I have taken my engine apart to freshen it up and found the crank was rusty where the seal runs on the left hand side....kawasaki have different part numbers for the kx250 86 model crank than on the tecate....does anyone know what exactly is the diffrence between 87 tecate and 86 kx250 cranks?

you can run any kx/kxt 250 crank from atleast 83-86.(possibly as far back as 78) The only difference you may find is how the crank gear is held on,some had a nut and some used a circlip. If it was a complete assembly that you looked up the crank gear is smaller for the kx and would be the reason for a different p/n but it is easily changed.

Besides the crank gear, also make sure you didn't look up a kxf crank by mistake. I've never looked at the part numbers but I have a kx bottom end that I swapped the crank gear from a tecate into rather than rebuilding the kxt.
