Question on 200M clearance vs other bikes

I've seen in a few other threads on here and read in the specs that the 84' 200M has less clearance than say the 200ES I believe. I'm wondering if it just has to do with the stock hubs that they put on there? I just bought tires/rims off a guy who had an 84 200ES and hubs and swapped them out with my old stuff. I had smaller hubs they seemed to be 3" between the studs and the ones off the 200ES are 4". This bike with the new tires (25-12-9) is HUGE compared to the old ones. I get at least another 3" of clearance it seems like.

So is that it? Can 200M guys just put the bigger hubs on and enjoy the clearance that you got with the 200ES?

    thanks,
    Mike
