    83 atc 200x rebuild

    finally starting the rebuild. sanded frame back to metal and repainted , rebuilt top end, install new clutch and springs. took all old paint off engine and repainted with high heat paint. have most all new parts to put back on the trike . also installed xr200 cam. whatcha think. my first complete tear down.

    Nice job. You'll like that XR200 cam. I put one in my 200S and it woke it up nicely. You won't set any land speed records, but it's a nice improvement.

    preping the piston means using sand paper to take off the "sharp" edges of the piston and valve releifes as well as lightly sanding the shinny flat so fluid does not puddle on the shinny spots. during combustion.

    it's pretty common from good builders to prep all pistons. if you do not, you chance gettign hot spots on the sharp edges and that can cause detonation as well as it may never run "quite rught" because of uneven heat spots and shinny fluid piddling spots during combustion. i prep all pistons i install.
