Looks like it took water either in a carb vent or the overflow drain and killed it. No, 3wheelers don't float with a rider on them. Some smaller models like a Honda 185 or 200 for example will float correctly without a rider on them but bigger models like the 250es float upside down. Everybody and there brother has heard a story from someone that floated acrossed a body of water on a 3wheeler like a 6x6 argo but these are just legends. Maybe if you weighed 80lb and had an Atc90 with dualed up 25" tires and foam noodles strapped all over the frame it might work but until that day I say no.
Whats happening in that video is a lack of traction from the back tires spinning hard on a slick bottom making it look like its floating.

I would never do that. dont see much of a point to it
I almost lost a 250 es.
It got left in the field when an out of season flood came through and almost sunk the whole town.
It rolled over, wheels up and got stuck in the fence.
One of the tires was flat too.
The only thing I lost was the air box lid.
The seat and fenders weren't latched on so they floated up first,
The airbox lid wasn't snapped down and yes, they do float (away).
I've walked an es and sx gently through the creek knee deep and they will
float upright IF you hold them up and walk beside them.
If you believe that, I have some swampland in Florida for sale too.
Hey, anyone ever seen that trike ad with the submerged trike
snorkled and running underwater?
I'll have to go look for that one.
