I am lookin at a little mini 50....and would like some info.

    HI guys,

It is a 1984 mini z50 (Ithink), and I was wondering the kinks of these cute little things if you all knew of any?
Also are the body parts easy to achieve for restore? I know, I know go look on ebay...I also noticed these little things are very heavy for their size, or seem that way what is your gut say about the weight and kid control? In otherwords how many of you have little ones riding these, and what are your overall experiences.....thx Jen

A kid who used to ride with us had a 97 Z50. It was a 3 speed manual tranny with auto clutch. It was certainly not a high performance machine, with poor suspension and poor handling like any small wheeled machine, so its ceratibly not built for competition, but if you want something tried and true, basically '70's technology, that the kids can ride from dawn til dusk, without breaking, and will tolerate a lot of abuse with minimal maintenace, the Z50 is the ticket. The 4 cycle engine is a little heavy, but the weight is carried very low, so its not much of a problem for kids holding it upright.

He was 10, but extremely small for his age. These are probably for inline for a 7-9 year old, maybe 60-80 lbs.

It will be for my 3 kids, but mostly the only one interested and really wants one is the 8 year old girl. So she would prob ride the most. BUT, with weight ideas given I have concerns seeing that the 8 yr old only weighs 43 pounds. I am prob getting on trade, along with another (rm80). It will be a good trade but, I am not so sure this is the ideal bike. Probably go through with trade and then get a "real" feel if this is a keeper or sell and find more proper bike. The info here is great tho, it does give a good feel for ages, weights and who rides...thx guys.
