    Rear fender Paint

I just purchased a 1985 tri-z and its rear fender is cracked and has been stapled. It is black and came with an extra set of white fenders. I want to paint them and don't really know what paint to use. Is there like a special spray paint? or should I bring it to a dealer?

There is no good way to paint plastic fenders. At a molecular level, there is nothing for the paint to bond to. You can scuff them up and paint the fender but it will peel off as the fender flexes.

    I agree with him^^^^.

Actually, decent to nice OEM rear Z fenders in white with no breaks, that are restorable, may bring some decent money on Ebay. Maybe almost enough for a new black fender for yourself. Last New OEM rears brought 880$ on ebay..New of course.

If they are nice OEM, painting them will be the wrong direction.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

That is a totally different plastic if not fiberglass. The ATC fenders as well as the Maier fenders use a thermoplastic olefinic elastomer which is a completely different chemical makeup than other plastics which are paintable such as ABS plastic.

i painted my plastic and it came out good. you need to buy a spray paint called FUSION by krylon. its for plastic !!! it works great. you need to sand your plastic first. sand it with 80 grit then sand over it again with 150 grit. then simply paint ! it worked out realy well for me, its durable... its sold at walmart for about $4.50...
Ride it if you got it !
